Get to know me - Introduction

Get to know me

La Paz, Bolivia
Hi everyone, my name is Alejandro Arteaga and I was born and raised in La Paz, Bolivia, a place you have to visit before you leave this earth. I am 21 years old and I have a twin sister and a little sister both of them born in Bolivia. I am a junior at the University of Florida and I transferred from Santa Fe College on fall 2015. My major is Business Administration General Studies with a Specialization on Finance, Marketing and Economics in Agribusiness. I am also working on two minors which are Entrepreneurship and Management and Sales in Agribusiness. All the experiences of how college life is here in the US and more precisely in Gainesville, Florida have been amazing and completely unexpected few years ago. I still remember those last years of high school back there in Bolivia where I didn’t really know what direction I should focus my l life on. I can even remember that 4 years ago I didn’t know that this city even existed! But now that the years have passed and that I have had the luck and fortune to be part of on one of the most important colleges of the country, I can realize how my life has changed completely only for the best.

Club Bolivar
I love soccer. I am passionate about that sport ever since I was a kid. I’ve had the opportunity of playing soccer for my school in Bolivia since my first years as a student and I also played on non-professional soccer divisions in my city. In my opinion, the best soccer team that exists on this planet (and I bet yours too) is Bolivar, and will always be Bolivar. One of the short term goals that I have is to travel through many cities in South America. So far, I’ve been in different cities around Bolivia (which again I encourage you to visit). Internationally speaking, I’ve been in Chile a couple of times and I definitely look forward on visiting more South American Countries. But I believe that moving here, to a complete different country, where people speak a different language, who have different cultures and customs, has been with no doubt one of the most wonderful and amazing experiences I lived so far. Here in the US, I have been in Dallas, ST. Augustine, Daytona, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Tampa, Miami and Gainesville, and I really enjoyed every single place.

I look forward on working on positions related to management and development within the food industry, but I don’t want to focus on only one thing. I believe that Entrepreneurship is one of the most essential aspects that have helped us evolved as the society that we are nowadays. Many people in the past have been able to help modify the world and make it into the world we live in nowadays. This is why I am in this class, because I want to get the best out of me, my skills and my ideas.
