The Gator Spotter - Elevator Pitch No.1

The unmet need that I believe is affecting most of the students that live off-campus is the bus and its schedule. Not because the bus is in bad conditions or because there is no bus at all, but because everyday someone suffers from that stressful moment of arriving late to the bus stop. I believe that with the help of technology we would be able to solve this issue with no problem.

The name of my business is “The Gator Spotter” (I accept other name proposals) and it is based on a smartphone application that focuses on providing the student the necessary resources to be able to manage his or her time more efficiently with respect of transportation. Gainesville offers free buses for all the students that live in the city, but there are somethings that have to be improved. The Gator Spotter app will offer the student or the person that downloads the app with the opportunity of basically scheduling his or her bus.

The app will send notifications 25, 20 or 15 minutes before the bus actually gets to the bus stop he or she usually uses. You just have to set up the following:
  •         Where do you take the bus (what bus stop)
  •          At what time you usually take the bus
  •          What Bus route you usually use (Bus number)

That would be it. It’s very simple and helpful at the same time.

Please let me know what you think and thank you very much for watching. I accept all kind of critiques.

  1. Hey Alejandro,
Let me start by saying your elevator pitch is very well planned and extremely entertaining! I also think the meme you've placed is genius. Out of all the pitches i've seen yours is by far the best one. I hope this idea truly works out and becomes a reality because i would most definitely be interested in downloading this app!

If you'd like to check out my elevator pitch, as it too involves our UF bus system here is the link:http://ent3003img.blogspot.com

  2. Good afternoon Alejandro. It's hard for me to give feedback on the idea itself, I am late to college and do not live on campus. But as far as elevator pitches go I think you did a really really nice job. Those first few seconds are critical to getting the next 55 seconds so your jumping and frustration at missing the bus was right on. The only suggestion I could think of for the content would be maybe to throw a stat out there about how many students miss the bus or the amount of productivity that is lost when you do. Nice work. http://rustywinter.com/elevator-pitch-number-1-week-5-ent3003/

  3. You presented yourself very well in this elevator pitch. The intro is definitely an attention-grabber. I live off campus and I know I struggle with trying to catch the bus on time. At times I will be finished getting ready and then I will either have just missed the bus or it won't come for another 30 minutes, making me late for class. I didn't get the opportunity to record my own elevator pitch, but I enjoyed watching yours and I gained some insight for when I do record mine.

  4. First off, great job grabbing the viewer's attention right off the get go! The way you presented your idea had me interested the entire way through to learn more. I'm a frequent bus user and this is definitely I common problem, not only for me, but for any person who's main transportation is the bus. Overall, great job and keep up the good work!
